A realignment plan that would place Monticello High School in a new, seven-team conference was part of a proposal put together by a mediation team during a session Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the Berndes Center in Monticello.
Under the plan, Monticello would be reunited with Anamosa, and they would join Cascade, North Cedar, Bellevue, Northeast and Camanche in a new conference, which has yet to be named.
The Big East Conference would be dissolved, with many of its schools – including Midland – joining an enlarged Tri-Rivers Conference.
The Tri-Rivers would have 14 teams, and would split into divisions as it sees fit.
